Motherland Cycling Club

Why Join a Cycling Club?

Sometimes cycling on your own is great, but a lot of the time being part of a cycling club is the best way to go riding. If you have become a regular cyclist or are looking to improve your skills and knowledge, it can be beneficial to join a local cycling club. There are typically clubs that cater to all skill levels, and it can be important to ensure the cycling club is the right fit for you.

Benefits of being a member of a cycling club include; the ability to learn about new routes and roadways, build your skills and knowledge on the sport, develop and maintain a training regimen, gain discounts for stores and races, participate in team-based cycling races, and of course develop companionship and fellowship with like-minded people.

For fitness, competition, fellowship, or all of the above

MCC is committed to the safe group riding concept, and will stay together, or form several smaller groups.

There will usually be a leader for each ride, but every smaller group may not have one every week. Riders should commit to keeping their group together and not dropping riders.

Rider Expectations
  • Groups are asked to ride the advertised speed ranges.
  • Possibly, there will not be a lead rider in every group.
  • We expect all cyclists on our rides to watch out for each other.
  • All riders should choose their speed group realistically, to be considerate of those desiring a certain pace.
  • Riders should arrive with properly maintained bicycle ready for the ride.
  • Helmets are always required
  • We obey the rules of the road.
